The Timbers of Cass County is scheduled to open in June 2010 and ushers in a new chapter of skilled nursing care services.   Located in the historic city of Dowagiac, MI., the conveniently located center is a welcome addition to the continuum of health care alternatives throughout Cass County.  Situated by nearby inland lakes and the rolling farmlands of Southwestern Michigan, The Timbers embraces a special quality of life ideal in its goal to provide excellent skilled nursing care. 

The new facility will feature an architecturally pleasing “Lodge Design” complete with stone finishes and timbers that are incorporated throughout the exterior.  The facility will also include elegantly appointed and spacious common areas, a main restaurant style dining area along with private dining for special occasions, activity and recreational rooms, a beauty and barber shop, lounges, a therapy gym that will include fitness programs and wellness services, a canopied entrance drive, and a large beautifully landscaped interior courtyard.

Our 108-bed Medicare and Medicaid certified facility will offer quality 24 hour nursing care and aggressive rehabilitation therapy services. Our philosophy at The Timbers is to treat each individual with honor, respect and dignity. Our strong commitment to excellence will be evidenced through the services we provide. As part of the Atrium family, we will supply the best care and comfort by employing highly qualified, professional staff. We have designed our services with security, independence and assistance in mind.

 
Our activities are carefully formulated to meet the individual needs of each resident and our varied programs are geared to each residents' capabilities and limitations.  Because we value the health of the whole person, we also provide accomodations for the spiritual needs of our residents, as well as pet therapy for their added emotional well being.

Medical Rehabilitation Services

At The Timbers of Cass County, we are dedicated to rehabilitating each patient in an environment which promotes independence and safety. Licensed nurses are on-site around the clock.

Our medical rehabilitation program provides high-acuity nursing care for post-acute, clinically complex patients. With a focus on short-term rehabilitation stays, many of our patients return home independently.

Specialized Services

Short-term Rehabilitation
The Timbers of Cass County specializes in caring for the post-acute patient whose needs are high-risk, and whose goals are often short-term.  Our rehabilitation unit boasts private rooms, a distinct and separate entrance, and dedicated staff.  Added amenities offer patients mounted televisions with cable as well as personal telephones.

Care Pathways Program for Discharge Planning
The Timbers of Cass County is a leader in care coordination.  We utilize a program of Care Mapping to develop individual care pathways which specify clinical and rehabilitation goals that are measurable which drive the management of each patient's care.

Through our Care Mapping process, the patient's discharge plan is discussed with the inter-disciplinary team within 24 hours of admission.  At that time, the team discusses what must be accomplished to meet the goals of the patient.

Our experience in coordinating and managing the care continuum provides a smooth transition from acute care to skilled nursing facility to home.
