Essex of Salem I has been recognized as a 2011 recipient of the Bronze – Commitment to Quality National Quality Award presented by the American Health Care Association.
The National Quality Award Program is based on the core values and criteria of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Program.

Essex of Salem I, a 2011 National Quality Award Winner, exists to help those who are in need. We are proud of our staff members because they help provide each resident with thoughtful and exceptional healthcare services in a safe, clean and friendly environment. We show compassion and love, and we have seen many of our residents get well and return to their lives.
Our Community Features
Essex of Salem I is a 92-bed ranch home with a large front porch. It is nestled on a five-acre campus setting. Our H-shaped building keeps our staff members and residents closely connected. Our nurses’ station is located in the heart of our community which allows our staff members to see all resident rooms and respond to requests with ease. For the past there years, our community has been voted “Best of the Best” nursing home in Columbiana County by The Salem News’ annual Reader’s Choice Awards.
Dedicated to our Nation’s veterans, Essex of Salem I is the only United States Veteran Administration approved community in Columbiana County. Our medical rehabilitation program offers each veteran an environment that promotes independence and safety.
Our Community Services
Essex of Salem I is a dually certified and licensed skilled nursing community. Physical, occupation, speech, and respiratory rehabilitation services are offered to our residents. Our nursing staff is accustomed to delivering a variety of medical interventions, such as advanced wound care, intravenous, feeding tubes, tracheotomies and dialysis care. We are proud of the assistance we have given to those suffering from head trauma, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and behavioral/psychological diagnoses.

We understand the emotional process of placement and strive to help with the adjustment for both the resident and his or her family.
